Fruits and Flowers for Four

What a beautiful Friday it is, who else is happy for the holiday weekend!?!  We had a wonderful fourth anniversary yesterday - filled with fruits and flowers!

It was a normal work day, and a rainy one at that, but J brightened my day with the delivery of beautiful flowers. They were filled with peonies and lily of the valley, some of my favorites!

We celebrated after work exchanging gifts and opening a few cards and gifts from others. Complete with Sherrie's Berries from M&M&MM. J picked out a beautiful Lilly scarf for me and he received a basket of fruit and flower goodies from me.

Then we headed out to enjoy happy hour at Haywood's with the piano man.

Then headed to Southern Inn for a fabulous diner.
They really have stepped up the game with presentation and a few amazing salads!

We topped off the evening with Key Lime Pie... part of J's fruit and flower basket.

We are looking forward to a very Happy Memorial Day weekend at home and a fabulous celebration for the Hastings twins tomorrow! Here's a sneak peak at some decor...

Have a great weekend friends!

Baby Lyons | Week 36

How far along? 36 weeks

Size of baby: A honeydew or small cantaloupe (19-22 in., 5.5 lb.)

Gender: Waiting for our little surprise in June!

Weight Gain: Up 30 pounds!

Maternity Clothes: Still rocking the maxi dresses. Pulled out some cute Mud Pie shorts this weekend and loved the elastic waist - they work great for when you are 9 months preggo and it's 90 degrees out!

Nursery: Looking pretty good. I did lots of laundry for the little babe this week and got  the dresser all organized. Just a peak...

We are almost done - just a small punch list left, including installing the dimmer, hanging some pictures, and organizing the closet. Hoping that Memorial Day weekend proves to be a very productive one. The crib is looking nice and festive!

Purchases: My breast pump in finally on the way from insurance - they make you wait until one month out, but it was so easy. I used a company out of Asheville, NC and they took care of all the logistics. All I had to do was give them my insurance, pick out my pump, and it's on it's way. I would highly recommend it to all mommas-to-be - maybe I can catch up on life to post about it soon. Otherwise, we have just been picking up stuff here and there that we need Scratch mittens, bottles, etc. I also splurged on these cute little dividers for the closet from Gina Marie Originals. She was wonderful to work with and made the perfect set for our nursery.

Movement: We are running outta room in the belly - making siting much more uncomfortable - but lots of punches and kicks.

Symptoms: Sore feet, rib pain, a little nausea now and then, but nothing a little chipped ice doesn't help.

Sleep: Gave up the snoogle for two pillows and sleeping much better. However, usually up a couple times each night and moving around a lot trying to get comfy. I think this is just my body's way of preparing for baby and those hourly feedings.

Workouts: Walks - but much shorter - and just staying active.

Cravings: Chipped ice! More sweets this week than my usual, pop-tarts, cinnamon toast crunch, chocolate, fruit and fudge-sickles all top the list. Was craving some good homemade pasta salad {with tomatoes, asparagus and cheeses}, and have lived off a big batch for lunch daily this week.

What I Miss: Nothing. Feeling pretty happy right now. :)

Best Moment This Week: Getting to spend Saturday night with my hubby! I'm getting a little sentimental about our short time left as just a family of two. Plus, he's been on the road traveling non-stop since March, so I'm just ready to have him home.

Looking Forward To: Our 4 year anniversary on Thursday!

Baby Lyons | Week 35

How far along? 35 weeks, we passed the one month countdown this week ~ crazy!

Size of baby: A coconut or canary melon(19-22 in., 5.5 lb.)

Gender: Still waiting. :) ...only 5 weeks until we know!

Weight Gain: Up 27 pounds from my pre-baby weight and feeling pretty good.

Maternity Clothes: Yea buddy! the collection is getting slim though, but I refuse to buy any more maternity clothes... I can make it through 5 more weeks, right?

Nursery: We are almost ready! I am still working on the closet, organizing dressers and hanging some decor, but otherwise it's almost ready for baby! Allie tested out Baby Lyons' pack-n-play for her crib this weekend in the room and she seemed to like it pretty well. So far, I'm so happy we stuck with white, navy and gold - with touches of color here and there. It's all coming together just like I imagined!  Will do a full nursery post soon - once we get some things on the walls.

Purchases: Lots of big purchases this week. We used all our cash and gift cards from showers and started working down the "must-need" list before baby arrives. A few purchases I'm excited to get: our changing pad and cover, bath tub, crib sheets, Boppy, newborn inserts for the Momaroo and carseat and lots of other newborn essentials. We did stock up on some diaper sales this weekend - which you can read about here. Love it when I score some deals!

Movement: Lots! The baby was loving church on Sunday and the music. The babe has also enjoy The Voice semi-finals this week... I think he or she is going to be a big fan of music.

Symptoms: I am pretty sure the Braxton-hicks have started, I can feel the belly tightening every so often. My feet are getting really sore, so I'm finally giving up cute shoes for comfort. Occasional rib pains now and then and blue toes from poor circulation. The babe is defiantly running outta room in there.

Sleep: Pretty good. Up a couple times during the night and a few restless nights here and there... but overall, resting well.

Workouts: Just staying active and taking it slow. A few walks here and there, as well as hand weights and a little yoga at home. Otherwise, I am telling myself to enjoy this time and soak it up - it won't be long before I'm dreading my 3 mile runs again.

Cravings: Chipped ice! Lots of spinach, kale and avocado salads this week - as in, almost one a day. Loving the fresh veggies and that I can eat a full meal and not feel terribly bloated. Haven't really been eating much meats - which is not like me - but enjoying pizza, eggs, avocados, nuts, hummus & pita... and of course cookies and fro-yo!

What I Miss: Nothing. Feeling pretty happy right now. :)

Best Moment This Week: My first Mother's Day with our little cub and spending the weekend with one of my besties and her little one. We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend and just caught up on life - which was exactly what I needed. Freiends are good for the soul, especially this momma's soul.

Looking Forward To: Our last baby class tonight. Meg is tagging along since Papa is out of town. Excited to get-in all our goodies I ordered earlier this week, and get organized for baby. Also looking forward to our 4 year Anni next week!

Someday may be Today

A little inspiration for this Wednesday morning. Let's get some things checked-off that to-do list.

Life Lately. Baby Prep.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!!
Our mommas from our Coast Shower

We are at the one month countdown y'all! That's 4 weeks and 2 days... eeekkk!! Things are getting real. Sorry for the lack of blogging lately, my energy level is still good - but I just have a lot less of it and time. The thought of only having 4 weeks left to get all I need to get done at work and at home... it's just, well - short. haha  So, what have we been up to lately?  J and I soaked up a good solid week together at home before he left for his last trip before baby comes. We attended baby class, wrapped up some final big nursery projects and secured child care for the fall. {Such a huge relief!}

I had surprise guests this weekend all the way from Charleston! Lyns and her baby girl Allie came to visit, and we had the best time just hanging out and catching up on momma stuff. Allie is as sweet as pie, and so much fun. I mean check out this cutie.

After they hit the road on Sunday, I spent the day with our little cub {it's a little bit easier when they are still in the belly}. We actually made it to mass for the first time in weeks and then I decided to try and tackle {or start on} our punch list of house chores to get done before our cub arrives, and the punch list of things to buy... which is what I worked on more. {Chores can wait for the hubs to be home, right?} So, I took all the cash and gift cards we've been given for baby and put them to good use checking things off the list. It's still amazing to me all the stuff you "need" for such a tiny lil cub.
We made out pretty good on our list, and only spent $3 out of our pocket. Granted, we still have a few things to buy - but we are well on our way to being ready for baby.

On another note, I was excited to find out this weekend that H&M baby is now available online! Brace yourselves momma... It's cute. Just a peak.

Speaking of baby... and deals... I started doing a little more reading on supplies and what's really need for our newborn. We are using disposable diapers, so I started adding up what we currently have in our diaper stock-pile and then started researching what we need.  Let's just say we need to go shopping! I am all about trying to get a deal, so after reading quite a few blogs I really learned that places like Costco and Amazon Prime aren't always the cheapest place to buy diapers. Instead, stalking sales at local drug stores, combined with coupons and cash back discounts is where it's at. I was proud of myself last week.... This is what we got:

CVS Sale - Pampers were 2-35 packs for $18.
$3 cash back with purchase.
Coupon - $1.50 off one pack
Coupon - $3.00 two packs

Huggies were not on sale, but they were $11/ 35-pack
Coupon - $2.00 off

I used my 30% your entire order coupon.
I had a $9 store credit I used.

Total - 105 diapers for $4.65.
Now that is a deal! I felt so proud. If I could only do that every time I need diapers. We are getting closer to our stock pile, but not quite there.

If you are curious about how many diapers you need during the first year... here is an estimate from Southern Savers.

Math assumptions:
Changing on average 10 diapers per day/night
½ lb growth per week
starting weight of 6 lbs
First 4 Months
Newborn Size: 2-3 packs (some can straight to size 1)
Size 1: 840 diapers needed to get to 12 lbs  = 16-20 jumbo packs
Size 2: 560 diapers needed to get to 16 lbs = 13-15 jumbo packs
5 months to 12 months
Growth slows to 1 lb every 3 weeks on average
Diaper Changes on average 6 per day
Size 3: 1512  diapers needed to get to 28 lbs = 56-62 jumbo packs
Total Diapers needed in the first year: 2,912
On a non-baby note, our yard finally has some flowers, and I finally got around to a little gardening this weekend.

Mother's Day flowers from J.

...and our azaleas finally bloomed.

I also snipped a few to bring inside. Love fresh flowers

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

Baby Lyons | Week 34

How far along? 34 weeks

Size of baby: A butternut squash (19.5 in., 5 lb.)

Gender: Really have no idea... was feeling boy, but lately I am thinking girl. We may have finally decided on a girls name, so maybe that's what changed my mind??

Weight Gain: Up 27 pounds from my pre-baby weight. Let's just say the babe had a growth spurt between weeks 32 and 34... in the form of 6 pounds. ha! I think one of the scales had to be off a little. But check out the size of that belly... it's huge! haha

Maternity Clothes: You bet! Mostly non maternity dresses though - they seem to work better.

Nursery: Lots of progress! The curtains and the light are hung. My old baby dresser is moved to make room for the fabulous Wingback Rocker from Pottery Barn. My fabulous sister-in-law made me a bed skirt for the bed too.. and it looks awesome!! Still no decor on the walls, but we did decorate with a few items from our two baby showers. We did a little drawer organizing, but still have a long way to go. Let's just say the little room is starting to fill up!

Purchases: Bought a mattress pad cover for the crib! haha Not the most exciting, but very practical. Mom got us our coming home outfit(s) for the little cub... one boy and one girl. Just in case. :) They are so sweet. She also spoiled me with two night gowns and two robes for the hospital and after baby is born. Now I finally have something to pack in the hospital bag! Thanks mom!  Mom and I also hit up a Moms-to-Mom store and scored a few goodies for cheap.... a Swaddle Me for $3, a new Kissy-Kissy outfit for $2, a hand-smoked little girls outfit for $5, and a 4th of July onesie for $1. Can't wait to go back for more deals once we know if we'll need more pink or blue.

Movement: You bet! Our letting babe is having a ball in there.

Symptoms: The belly is getting a lot heavier when standing or walking. Still trying to stay moving, but after a busy weekend with lots of walking around town and standing the body is tired. Rib pains are getting more frequent as the babe is moving more up into the rib cage. Still having some purple toes, but very little swelling - so I am thankful. These size 11 tootsies don't need to grow any. They have been really sore.... mom treated me to a pedi and J has offered a few foot rubs which have been wonderful!

Sleep: Had a few sleepless nights this week, which I think is to be expected from here on out.

Workouts: Lots of walks around town this week with Mom and Haley. After a busy weekend, I took it easy for a few days.... but still getting around 8,000 steps in on the Fit-bit.

Cravings: Same as always. Lots of crushed ice and anything cold... pops, fruit, etc. Had a craving for onion rings one night, which was random.

What I Miss: Running during this beautiful weather. Happy hour on the deck... even though my cocktails are doing a pretty good job of filling in lately.

Best Moment This Week: Our baby shower on Sunday was so perfect! It was a small shower with all my closest girlfriends in Lex, and my mom and one of my besties from High School came too. The babe was spoiled with lots and lots of goodies... and we are getting closer to being ready for your arrival. Can't wait to share pictures, once they arrive from Papa Sam! I also loved getting to spend so much time with my momma and Haley. It was the best!

Looking Forward To: Mother's Day weekend ahead. Getting more organized in the nursery. Installing the car seat and packing the hospital bag soon... maybe this weekend. Also excited for our baby CPR and baby basics class tonight!
