Updates

We've had such a busy week - with lots of house progress!

{one}
GranDe made it to town! She had a long travel day... which allowed us some shopping time at Marshalls while waiting.
We went in for some tablecloths for her party and left with a wagon, chips and beach toys. #typical

{two}
House Updates!  We decided to continue the hardwoods into the bonus room/den so that it's not carpet when you come off the back deck. They will eventually be stained, with the rest of the floors, but so happy to see them in place!
{three}
Dry wall is up at the house. We stopped by late last night and the master bath is a real room!! the plumbing and electrical are done, ceiling lights are in and we have four walls, a pocket door and ceiling! It's so awesome to see.

More dry-wall closing in the door that used to come off the stairs.

More dry wall up, giving us a walk-in closet.

{four}
Momma got a hair cut!! 5 inches gone. It feels so nice and light for summertime!

{five}
We tried picking out carpet for the bonus room/den and master closet... still no decision, but Annalee loves walking on the samples.

This lil bit will be 2 tomorrow, I can't believe it!!  We'll be celebrating with a little afternoon party at home - probably our last at Moore St.  I can't wait to party with our lil cutie!

Cheers to a great weekend friends!

SIX years!!

Our Wedding ~ May 21, 2011

The hubs and I celebrated a wonderful six years on Sunday with a trip to Nelson Co. with our little one. We had lunch at Devils Backbone Basecamp and then explored Bold Rock for a little bit. Both places are so cool... we could certainly spend hours on end just sitting outside and letting the kiddos play. I see many more trips in our future!

We also got a sitter and snuck out for a couple hours Saturday afternoon and evening for cocktails/mocktails at TAPS, met friends for a little bit at DBB for a band, and dinner at Haywood's. O, and who could forget a late-night trip to cook-out for shakes. :)

It was a wonderful weekend and a reminder of how truly blessed we are to have each other, our health, and our countless blessings.
Honeymoon in Antigua ~ May 2011

Happy six years Jesse! I love you and can't wait to celebrate many, many more!

Busy week ahead... GranDe arrives tomorrow and Annalee turns the big 2 on Saturday! Plus, Memorial festivities and we leave next week for our summer vacation. Lots of fun stuff to do.

Plus, we have lots of house updates on-going and baby lyons #2 is 30 weeks this week! Working on an update for everyone.

Cheers to a great week friends!

Junkin Reno: Kitchen Design

We finalized our kitchen layout a few weeks back, but I am finally getting around to sharing an update. Lots of progress at the house, but this post is all about the kitchen!

Below is the final layout.
We are going with white shaker style cabinets and gold drawer pulls. We decided on white corara marble countertops (or something like them) and a simple white subway tile backsplash. These are a few pictures for inspiration:

For appliances we decided to go with a gas stove top, with an oven below. A white wooden range hood and a separate range microwave build in on the other side of the kitchen. We both really like the side by side fridge, as apposed to a bottom pull out freezer drawer, and we decided to upgrade the sink to a kohler apron sink. Not quite as deep as a farmhouse, but the same look and feel.
Our bar will extend into our dining area now and give us 3 spaces for barstools. We did not want an elevated bar because I really wanted this space to be as open as possible. Also, with children - 2 extra feet is a big drop to the floor - just saying'. It happens - trust me. This is an inspiration picture for our bar to dining transition.
A fun feature our contractor added was a built in beverage fridge for wine, beer or kiddos drinks. It sits just to the side of the refrigerator.

We will have recess lighting in the kitchen, with two pendant lights above the bar. Still waiting to pick those out.... I just can't decide.

We did have to close-off a window in the kitchen - where the range and hood will go. But it made the most sense in the long run and allowed us to do so much more with the small space we had. It's not a small kitchen, but it's certainly not huge.

This was a picture taken of the kitchen yesterday:
Updates: Plumbing is in, hardwoods are laid, and electric is run. City inspection is today.
Progress, Y'all!

My best gal. You are wild and crazy and certainly keep us on our toes... but best of all, I am so lucky that you made me a momma!

Soak up today with your little (or not so little) ones. You deserve it!

Baby Lyons #2 | Weeks 25-27

How Far Along?  25 weeks
Size of Baby: An ear of corn (9in, 1.5+lbs)
Gender: I'm feeling Boy... but I dunno why. Maybe because it's just been such a different pregnancy.
Weight Gain: Up 14 pounds at my 24 week check-up.
Maternity Clothes:  I found a great maternity swim top at Target this week on the clearance rank - score. I also just ordered a few more items from Old Navy - maternity shorts and capri's and then a couple of swing dresses that are non-maternity that I think will be great post-baby as well.

Nursery: I'm on the hunt for matching curtains for what we currently have in Annalee's nursery, since the new nursery has two windows. Target doesn't carry them anymore, and I can't seem to locate more than one panel anywhere online. Anyone know of a site where you can search for discontinued curtain panels?
Movement: You bet!
Symptoms: Lots of trips to the potty,
Sleep: O, where have you been long lost Snoogle... I missed you! We finally were able to locate the Snoogle and sleep has been heavenly ever since. I'm still not sure why these things work so great, but I'm so happy they do!
Workouts: Lots of good long walks this week with Miss Annalee
Cravings: Cereal, cheese and crackers, ice-cream, pickles, jelly beans, burgers
What I Miss: Rose all day. ;)
Best Moment This Week: A solo trip to Target after a work event on Friday
Looking Forward To: My girls trip next weekend to the NNK!

Jesse's guest blog post when I was pregnant with Annalee at 25 weeks.
_____________

How Far Along? 26 weeks
Size of Baby: An Eggplant (9.2 in, 2 lbs)
Gender: Still waiting for our surprise
Weight Gain: Around the 20 pound mark.
Maternity Clothes: I found these cute little tops at  - wait for it - Wal Mart - for $5 (now on sale for $3). They aren't maternity, but one size up fits the belly just perfect.
Nursery: Since we'll be moving Annalee's current dresser/changing table into her big girl room, we need a new changing table. I'm considering buying the matching Hemnes dresser in just the three drawer version. It won't give us extra space on top like we used with Annalee, but we're limited on space for a "changing table" and I thought this would be more practical than an actual changing table.
Movement: SOOO much! This lil cub loves to move. Sometimes it's so quick that it startles me... like, what was that?
Symptoms: The blood flow in my legs is crazy. Spider veins and bruises popping out everywhere. Bloody noses on the daily. Otherwise feeling great!
Sleep: The snoogle is helping. Some nights are great and others are well, restless.
Workouts: One trip to the Y this week, since we've seen so much rain. Annalee and I did get out for a couple walks since J has been in DC all week for work. Yoga class on Saturday with my girls.
Cravings: Ice. Gatorade.
What I Miss: Cocktails on my girls trip to the Rivah... but the "mocktails" were just as fun.
Best Moment This Week: A surprise little baby sprinkle from my girls. During our Rivah weekend, they surprised our lil Lyons cub with a fun fiesta Saturday night... complete with a piñata and lots of goodies for our cub!
Looking Forward To: Our surprise trip to see Daddy next week at his work conference in Charlottee!!  Shhh...

Pregnant with Annalee at 26 weeks.
_____________

How Far Along?  27 weeks
Size of Baby:  A cucumber (15 inches long - crown to toe now, 2.2 lbs)
Gender: One very active baby
Weight Gain: Up 22 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Loving my new swing dresses from Old Navy and a simple black one I picked up at Wal-Mart last week.
Nursery: Meg bought us a cute little gray and white Two by Two sheet for the crib. I think it'll be a fun piece to design the room around for now.
Picked up a couple items for baby at Ikea, but I couldn't fit the new dresser in our car. Debating whether it's worth $99 shipping.
Movement: You bet cha!
Symptoms: Feeling great this week!
Sleep: Pretty good, other than a few trips to the potty.
Workouts: A couple walks, and lots of playing outside.
Cravings: Italian!
What I Miss: Energy and Agility. I'm really starting to feel this big ol' belly - it really gets in the way!
Best Moment This Week: Surprising daddy at his conference in Charlotte and seeing lots of old friends from my previous work world. I do miss the communications world - the creativity and energy that comes with it - and all the fun peeps that worked in our field! Our trip to Ikea was also pretty fun, as well as our mommy/daughter road trip.
Looking Forward To: Seeing our sweet babe during our follow-up ultrasound next week!!

Pregnant with Annalee at 27 weeks.

Inspiration Post - Annalee's Big Girl Room

Designing Miss Annalee's new room in my mind has been so much fun! I'm so excited to watch her little personality come out in her own little ways. Since I know this little one is going to have quite the style of her own, we'll be keeping things simple at first. Letting her make some plans along the way. Since her nursery was mostly navy, white and coral, I'm trying to adapt some old things and bring in some new.

The walls will be gray, with white trim. I'm in search of the perfect yellow buffalo check curtains for her three beautiful windows. She'll be keeping her Ikea Hemnes dresser with gold knobs and also her navy kitchenette. Everything else will go to baby's room to make way for lots of fun new "big girl" stuff.

Lex Rivah Trip 2K17

Girlfriend time is just good for the soul. We had the most amazing weekend at the Rivah... celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and our little cub #2. But most importantly a little baby-free time for all the mommas. I'm so lucky to live in such a small town and be surrounded by so many wonderful mommas, who I just adore. This was our first time getting away together... and it certainly won't be our last.
We spent two nights at Meg's mommas' house in Edwardsville on the NNK. It's remote, laid-back, and so beautiful! Friday night was low-key. We celebrated a birthday and a 5 year anniversary with cake and lemon bars... and Josie's lasagna.
Saturday, we had a private yoga class out in front of the house on the water - it was amazing. The perfect way to start the day... and reminded me how much I miss yoga class.

For lunch we got cleaned up and headed to The Tides Inn, where we lunched outside on the water, and had the perfect little afternoon at the spa - complete with a pre-natal massage for this momma-to-be. It was just to die-for.

Following the Tides Inn we stopped at Meg's godparents house to see her garden that was on tour for garden week... and ended up on a boat. Yep, a very nice boat.
We had a quick lil sunset cruise before heading back to the house for a fiesta night... complete with a surprise baby sprinkle for our Lex Lyons Cub. Everything was just precious and thoughtful... and our little Lyons cub has already been spoiled.

Thanks for the perfect weekend ladies!! Love y'all to pieces.
