Five on Valentines!

Hope everyone had is enjoying a wonderful Valentine's Day!! The hubs was lucky enough to have his flight now cancelled today, so after a nice breakfast of champs {aka Cheerios} he headed to the airport and I came go work. At least we got to wake-up together!!  Thought I would share some of my favorite moments from this week!!

{one} Collin James

How could this cutie not be my number one this week? Our very first mango baby arrived on Wednesday and he and momma are both doing awesome! So grateful for this beautiful boys healthy arrival into the world.  Can't wait to meet the little guy in person.  Love you!

{two} Snow Day!

We finally had a snow day {where I was healthy and J was off work} and boy did we make the most of it. Late night shenanigans, dinner and drinks out, snow angles, a big breakfast, a walk around town, and the best past, sledding and snow men!! I forgot how much fun sledding can be, or shall we call it snow tubing? We defiantly got our workout. So much fun!!

{three} Valentines from the Kids!

These arrived at lunch today. How sweet is this? I love homemade valentine's... simply the best!!

{four} Candy Hearts

Who knew that these guys had been around since 1847. It's totally killing tradition if you don't have a bowl full in your house, right??

{five} This precious STD

Such an adorable save the date. I can not WAIT to celebrate with you in August!!!

I'm out friends.... off to Blue Lab for some chocolate stout!

Happy Heart Day!

300 + Meal Planning

Today marks 300 posts on my blog. So much fun! I never thought, that when I began in this small little corner in the blogger world, that I would ever reach 300 posts. I stared the blog shortly after our wedding in summer 2011, so it's taken awhile to get here, but I've gotten so much better at making this part of my everyday routine and found that it's a really fun outlet to capture everyday life. It encourages me look for the "special" in otherwise mundane tasks ...sometimes looking for something to blog out shows me how many things have to be grateful for in my life! Simple things like planning out our meals for the week seem so much more exciting when I can share them with my blogger world. So, thank you! Thanks for reading, for following along, and for all the fun comments along the way.  Cheers to 300!!

Now, for our meal plan this week.

Monday Nights Meal

Sunday - Buffalo Blue Cheese Chicken Sausage and Cole Slaw (w/ southern dressing)
{Since I forgot to take a picture, I found this guys blog online - you guys, these were amazing! Pretty healthy too... less than 150 calories per dog and one the perfect portion!}

Monday - Crab Cakes, Caramelized Carrots and Feta, and Cole Slaw {leftover!}

Tuesday - Crab Stuffed Flounder, Parmesan Couscous & Broccoli

Wednesday - PIZZA night!

Thursday - Spicy Red Pasta w/ spinach egg noodles and andouille sausage.
Found this recipe in Fresh Market, I'll have to share if it's worth tasting!

Weekending!

Happy Monday!!! Who else is prepping for the winter wonderland heading their way?  I am totally over this freezing weather, but the thought of a snow day actually sounds pretty fun. Maybe I can get out and finally build a snowman!

The weekend flew by way to quick - but it was a productive one for sure!  Friday night, I had a fun girls night with wine, pizza, and lots of crafting. We even baked this cute lil smash cake {for a Saturday 1st b-day picture session} that I just had to share.

Nothing a box of cake, valentine's icing and a little sprinkles couldn't make look good.

On Saturday I had a nice long {7 hour} shopping day. {Good thing the hubs was out of town - he would have never lasted. I barely did.} I started the day at this lil gem, Happy's Flea Market in Roanoke.

I was in search of vinyls for J for Valentine's day and boy did I strike gold! The Record Shop had walls of records... some less than $1.  I even scored a Lionel Richie album with our first dance on it.

Next stop, Michael's and Marshall's for some cute Easter decor, placemats, thank you notes {hello $1 bin}... and I even scored a pair of Happy Socks for the hubs for $2.  Does anyone else's hubs love these socks? If you keep an eye out, you can find them at TJ or Marshall's for less than $10.

After a long day in search of new tennis shoes, make-up, and gifts for the biddies... I stopped in Fresh Market for some treats for the week. Man, did I rack up!  Tune in for meal-planning tomorrow, we have some yummy dishes planned with all the fresh seafood I picked up at the market. {Note to self, that place is dangerous}

After getting home late, this was my dinner.  Nothing like re-living the days of single girl life.

I was so proud of my productive Saturday, I actually got myself up and out the door for a run and then to mass Sunday morning! J had an early flight home, so we had a great lil sunday when he got in.

I tried to save his records for Valentine's Day. But when he got home from his work trip, I just couldn't resist!

So, we unpacked the record player, popped in a couple records and enjoyed our first dance in the living room! It was a nice lil Sunday afternoon.

Hope your weekend was just as great!

Five on Friday

It's Friday friends!! So happy the weekend is here... and the sun in shining! I had a very productive week, but looking forward to an even more productive {hubs is out of town} weekend ahead. Wanted to join in the Friday link up and share five things that have made me happy this week!

{one} This little silver tray that was my Aunt Tede's.

My Aunt Tede is actually my mom's Aunt, my paw-paws sister. We grew up calling her Aunt Tede like my mom because we visited a lot. She was a teacher, and who my mom got her passion for teaching from. She never married... but had a "man-friend" nearly all her adult life. She was sweet as pie and just as crazy as the rest of the cajuns in my family.  Anyways, when she passed away the sisters all got to help sort out her estate and boy did she have some beautiful things!! This tray is one of the little gem's we got from her. I just pulled it out to put on display... I think it looks pretty great on the bar. Aunt Tede would be proud. ;)

{two} Emila Cay's 4th Birthday.

With her Birthday box from Aunt T and Uncle J!

This weekend is my sweet goddaughters 4th birthday!  I can not believe she is 4 already. Even though I won't be there in person to celebrate, I have no doubt the party will be quite the event!  My sister-in-law is so creative, I wanted to share a few of the things she's been working on for the party. How cute is that dress?  Yes, she made it too... and it only cost her $5. #thriftycrafter

{three} Moscow Mule cups.

Meet my new favorite drink, the Moscow Mule. well, it's not a favorite... but more places are finally carrying ginger beer, so I can actually enjoy my favorite drink when we are out and about. However, my bestie bought me these adorable cups for my birthday, so I can make my own at home! We finally found some ginger beer in Lex {yes, no Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in sight}, so I could make my very own Moscow mule at home in my cute little cups. Love them.

four. Thumbs Up WineFinder.

Discovered this little app last night while looking through our wine cooler and trying to pick out wine. I have no idea how to look at brand, region or year, and determine if it's really a "good wine" or a $7 bottle. Since it was just me and a random Thursday night, I didn't want to open a $20 bottle of wine for myself to only to drink one glass. We have so many bottles from friends, family, etc. that I'm always nervous to open one.  Problem solved! This app can tell you exactly how much it would retail for and where to find it locally. It also helps when you are stuck on the wine aisle trying to pick a decent bottle of vino. Just take a pic and it'll give you the goods!  Excellent!

Five. VS Swim!

Y'all, I got my first VS Swim catalog in the mail this week... and I had a mild heart palpitation. Not really, but really? Is it that time of the year already?  I can't believe it! I have got to get my butt to the gym... maybe this was the motivation I needed from earlier in the week, ha! They say you always get what you ask, in one way or another. But, VS does hove some cute one out this year... motivation.

Join the link-up, so we can see what's on your mind today.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Valentines for the Kiddos!

Valentines Day for me means showing those I love that I'm thinking of them... and what better excuse to spoil your nieces and nephews?  I'm putting together a few things for the little ones to send to the coast. This was my inspiration board.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Mostly practical and useful, some just for fun... but I try my best to steer clear of the candy and go for real gifts or things they can use {or read}!

Confessions

I'm feeling like Megan & Classic Annie today and just need to have a round of randomness and ...
...It's been a busy week in front of the computer for me... so the thought of blogging after work was just too much to handle. I've been building a special event website and there are just so many pages... it. is.never.ending. Makes me appreciate web designers so much more. Do you realize how long it takes to build just one page? Woof!  Killing me.  Good news... I'm almost done. And it does feel good to see it coming to life, so at least that's a bonus!

...I did not print out my blog planner that I said I would for February. But... I did just make a list of blogs that I've been wanting to do and assigned them to next week. So, I have a plan... for a week anyhow. ha!

...I finally watched the Bachelor wedding on Monday. O my goodness, y'all! Can I please get married again and have a hollywood team plan every details {and pay for it}? I was secretly jealous of her stylist team that got her ready.

...The hubs surprised me with new PJ's last night! They are precious... and so thoughtful.

sorry that's the best pic i have for ya.

....he also came home with FIVE boxes of Girl-scout cookies yesterday and I may have opened 3 of the boxes already. {oops}

...since being sick {and not working out for a week or so}, I've felt so lazy. Well, lazy when it comes to gym time. But after seeing the copious amounts of GS cookies in my house, I have got to get motivated. tips?

...My sister-in-law sent me this fabulous necklace {in December}, and I finally wore it for a work function. Love it.

...This makes me happy. And I'm diggin' his hat. Let's be real, he's the man.

Happy Hump Day!
