Five on Friday: 30A

Today, I thought I would dedicate my five on Friday to 30A - one of my favorite beach spots to eat, drink, relax, and soak up some sun.  Here are my favorite spots that are a must see on your trip to 30A and a few things you can't miss!

{one} The Red Bar - Grayton Beach
By far the hot spot on 30A for locals and tourists alike - The Red Bar is where it's at! The food is fresh, authentic and delicious! Hands down our favorite meal of the week. Be sure to get there early - there is always a wait - but if you go on Wednesday a fun jazz band will keep you entertained while you grab a drink in their neat bar. O, and to make it real local - cash or check only!

{two} The Fonville Press - Aly's Beach.
We had a nice morning on Wednesday working from The Fonville Press for the morning. Such an adorable spot in Aly's Beach - with outside covered spots that give you the perfect amount of breeze and sunshine. That morning they had a play for the kiddos that was a hit, and they offer other family oriented things throughout the week like yoga and movie night on the lawn.

{three} Beach Cruisers.
I didn't get a pic of us cruising the beach - but we took a nice long cruise down to the local cantina for some margaritas and chips one afternoon. The best part of 30A is the bike paths along the road - every house comes with beach cruisers... and if not, there are lots of local bike shops where you can rent by the week!

{four} Bud & Ally's - Seaside Beach.
The best place to catch a sunset - and the only eatery on the water side  - Bud & Ally's is the perfect spot for cocktails, dinner, or late night revelry. We enjoyed some awesome shrimp corndogs, pimento cheese, and bread-n-butter fried pickles. Perfect match to the local 30A beer.
Staying for sunset? Guess the sunset time and win a free drink!

{five} Fresh Seafood.
We love going out and exploring while we are at the beach, but we also love staying in and cooking up some delicious seafood ourselves. Because we were coming from P'cola, we hit up Joe Pattie's on the way for some fresh shrimp, but there are a couple local markets on 30A. One we have stopped at before is Goatfeathers Seafood. The local Publix can't be beat - they have everything you could possibly need!

Hope you get to make a trip down to 30A soon - it's the perfect lil getaway for families and those looking for some quiet beach time. Excited to get back to Lex next week and let the springtime fun begin.... renovations, planting, moving, and lots of sunshine! ...but not before another fun weekend with the folks!

Beach House Decor

As I mentioned earlier in the week, the hubs and I are taking a lil vaca/work time out of the office. Yesterday we spent more time in front of our lap tops than we did by the water, but after about 3 we hit the beach for some sunshine! A couple hours of hot sun was more than enough for these white bodies.

While we are here we are staying at a very dear friends beach house on 30A. It's the most adorable lil beach cottage called The Bees Knees. It has the perfect amount of decor and charm that I just love. So today I thought I would share some of their decorating ideas.

First is the kitchen. I love the baskets on the counter, the large farm table and the little pieces of driftwood laying around for decor.

The chairs in the house are all so adorable. Here are some of my favorites.
One of the gals is an artist, so all the art on the walls is original. I love the wire and wooden baskets she has laying around too. So fun!
The den has two great coozie sofas with overstuffed pillows and blankets.
Perfect after a long day in the sun!
The bedrooms may be my favorite part. She uses all white linens {which I love} and adds neutral pallets to each room. Lots of yellow too - my fav!

We are enjoying one last day of fun in the sun before heading over to visit with my folks for the weekend!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

The Market Cafe

Cheers from 30A! The hubs and I are enjoying a little time away from our busy schedules in Lex and working from the beautiful gulf coast this week. Today was a gorgeous day for us, and we certainly enjoyed every minute! Today, I wanted to share one of my favorite lunch spots...
The Market Cafe in Seagrove Beach!

It's an old general store that serves food in the back. They serve the best blackened fish sandwich around... Spicy, served up on hot French bread with crispy fries. Mmmm... Mmmm, good!
We tried their local brew with our yummy lunch... Not too shabby.
I'm excited to try their golden wheat 30A beer next.

The recently added a cute lil patio out back, where we sat and enjoyed our first meal of the trip. We stopped even before we got to the place we're staying... Trust me, it's that tasty.
More of this on tap for tomorrow, after getting a lil work done at the local coffee shop in Aly's beach.
Stay tuned!

Mobtown Wedding Weekend

We had the most wonderful weekend in my hometown! One of my high school girlfriends got married, so we made the long trip down to the Gulf Coast for a weekend of festivities.

We started the weekend off with a big ole crawfish and shrimp dinner at my parents {possibly my husbands "last thing before I die" type meal, ha} and enjoyed catching up with them on Thursday. Friday we made the rest of the trip over to Mobile and met my BF Ale, my brother  Roberto, and his fam for early drinks and apps. This was the scene at Laps...yes, kids at the bar.  Oops!

That lil girl loves her Uncle Jesse!

The rehearsal dinner was super neat, outdoor at a great venue right on Mobile Bay. So perfect.
Saturday we had the perfect kind of Mobile day. We stayed the night with my brother, so we enjoyed a traditional Mexican breakfast {recipe to come} courtesy of cousin Roy, and lounging with the kiddies that morning. Next, we ventured over to Springhill College to explore and get in a little exercise. Such a beautiful lil campus and the perfect weather for a spring run.

After our run, we decided on a lil Dew Drop Inn action to refuel for the evening.
I love that hotdogs {fully loaded} are still less than $3. One of my favorite childhood memories... pink Winnie's and tunes on the jukebox.

The wedding that evening was just perfect. Lindsay was beautiful and I have never seen her so happy!

.... And we danced the night away!
I love getting the chance to hang out with my fam and catch up with old friends. It's great to just pick right up where we left off. Wishing you the best, Lindsay B! I love you so much!!!

Today the hubs and I are off to 30A for a lil relaxation and catching up on work and sleep.

Five on Friday

The first Five on Friday of Spring! It's supposed to be a glorious day here in the Valley and I can't wait for an excuse to soak up the spring air.  I am excited for Five on Friday  - here are a few of my favorite things this week - a fresh new pallet for springtime!

{one} Strappy Wedges.
This may be my new favorite sandals for the season. I can't until they arrive - they are so cute!

{two} Simply Oatmeal Cookies.
O man! These are delicious cookies. If you're looking for a quick cookie fix - these taste just like grandma's fresh from the oven.

{three} Spring Flowers.
I can't wait to have fresh flowers around the house all spring and summer - love using lemons in the base too - we did this at our wedding and it just looked so bright and cheery.

{four} Braids.
I'm all about some springtime hair. Love this tasseled look on top brought together with a braid.

{five} Garden & Gun Southern Towns Bracket

Tis the season for the dance - the basketball dance that is - and I love how each year Garden & Gun teams up to make a really fun bracket for their readers to play along. This year is the battle of Southern Towns - sorry, ATL, only small towns for this one. It's fun to play along and get in the bracket spirit!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! We are volunteering with Habitat tomorrow to help with a new local development in town - should be lots of fun! Otherwise... lots of relaxing and packing for our big trip next week. More details to come!
